Carolina Liar — I’m Not Over
As someone who pretends to be up on the music scene I have this gutteral reaction to scoff at anything I hear on the radio as mainstream and overexposed. Then I listen to it in a locked room with headphones and/or wait until some “indie”ish band covers it so I can listen to the tune openly without compromising my music street cred.
Sometimes these are songs I really think are quite good and other times these are songs I recognize as atrocious. This is a case of the latter. This is one of those songs that is my super guilty music pleasure: incredibly formulaic construction, super emo cliche lyrics, and, horror of horrors, I heard it on the radio… but yes, I still like it.
I had the same feeling but, and I’m only admitting this because you’ve already opened yourself up so much, I heard this song on mtv2 a couple weeks ago and had to have it. One amazonmp3 click later and here I am, reblogging your post.
Together we can be ashamed.
